"Michael Seewald's photographs blur the
boundary between traditional photographer and painter. Michael's keen
sense of balance, use of color, and stylistic method of using time-lapsed
photography when around water and other movement, captures a feeling of
nature in ways perhaps no other medium can. For example, in "Blue Bottle,
Venice, Italy", the time-lapse photograph smoothes the movement of water
within the canal to produce a texture of great beauty and mystery."

(John uses Seewald's reproductions to make his art... puzzles that is. July of '09
saw one sell on eBay at over $1,000, unsigned by Seewald even.)

"Most visitors to galleries that show my work are impressed
by the artwork's painterly qualities. At first offended by
statements that my photos actually looked like paintings, photographer,
and now sponsor, Theo Bazdorf, straightened me out a few years ago.
He said "Michael, they mean 'perfect like
paintings'."
That's right, most photographers accidentally show lots of
distracting elements, focusing on interesting parts and totally
oblivious to those that aren't, whereas painters only include the elements the painter thought would work the best".
As Ansel Adams once said, 'There is nothing worse that a
sharp photograph of a fuzzy idea.' My sentiments exactly."
