Bill Chapman Sr.’s Lake El Salto Lodge
Jan.10th - 14th

Guide: Jose
Fishing partner: Dan

3.5 days of fishing. $1,800 plus $125 air + $80 rod tube (Volaris out of Tijuana) and $200 in tips

Multiple bass each day, largest two were one the first morning, a 7. 2 and 7 lbs. even, TUL (one on topwater, Lunker Punker).

Day 1 (30 bass), 8 first 1/2 the day.

The guides line up to greet us, they are such hard workers for the fisherman. Most speak limited English, if any at all.
Ours (Dan and myself) got blessed with getting Jose (at right), he spoke it quite well.

Up at o-dark hundred, breakfasted, and boats loaded. We be 1/2 way to our fishing holes by the time it's start getting light out.

Well, topwater is what I wanted, and it's what I got. First one was a 'rat' as we say, but the next one on a Super Spook was looking good.

7 lbs. even, TUL (one on topwater, Lunker Punker).

Second sunset, after first day fishing, headed back in.

Breakfast here, first day. Soooo cold, we're wearing jackets, no heaters at the Lodge, most seasons it's not needed.

Appetizer, soups/salads, main course and then desserts. Each portion large and soooo tasty. All adult beverages, waters, etc. were included. Really treated like royalty at all times.

Well, January is DARN cold once the sun sets, as you can see us here at our 4:30 a.m. breakfast.  Day two, making a run at 5:26 a.m.. Took about 20 minutes to get to our spots, all guides had their favorite spots to take the anglers.

5:39 a.m., with high expectations. We started getting them right away on top. Poppers for me.

As stated, thank you manager and staff for making my birthday trip all the more special. All the guide came in and sang happy birthday.

Day 4 fished solo, Dan had to pack. Got 6, all on topwater. Worked the dam, first time, with WP and Lunker Punker, for nada.

Departure photo... assistant manager Jesus, me, our fishing guide extraordinaire Jose and Lodge manager Carlos Gomes.
