Another public service announcement by
Michael Seewald Galleries of Del Mar, Californian.

Counterfeit water filters now being produced in China, and being
sold on eBay at much reduced rates over that of the original/real product.

Special thanks to Brad Durston of Culligan Corp.
for confirming some of the following facts.
Their number is 800.721.7360

5.2017: We ordered some Culligan FM-15RA replacement water filters off eBay, as we've done on Amazon
and eBay before, but his set of filters did not screw into the unit properly.

Got me to thinking, maybe someone is producing counterfeit ones,
and then the water would NOT be filtered properly, if at all.

 Major difference #1
with the Culligan FM-15RA replacement filter.

Counterfeit on left, note no serial number on the dome, and the 'clock' symbol is different.

Brad reported they WERE being sold on Amazon for a few weeks too, but Amazon
discontinued selling them from these companies when they found out they were bogus.
And now if it's from Amazon, shipped by Amazon, he reported  they are original.

Major difference #2. Height of units.

Original product on left, faux on right. Note it's taller by a smidgen (would not fit
in my unit actually, that's how I figured something was up!)

Major difference #3. Screwing is not the same.

The other indicator is the screwing, the faux one tapers off gently, original one is cut off more blunt.
Here is a sample of that:  Note difference in the ending of the screwing. This is a subtle difference, you really have to look.
Original product on left, faux on right. The screwing indicates the counterfeit, the faux one tapers off gently, original one is cut off more blunt.

Note: the boxes look exact as far as I can tell.

Negative reviews from sellers of these counterfeits confirm all this, as did Culligan, and many customers report confirmation of
counterfeits w/ manufactures of the filtration products.

Interesting, these all say based in New Jersey, but are Chinese
in all realities. All the same company? Could be.

The one we ordered from is called (link to their profile page, read negatives, mostly on filters):  happyredxuzhi3

Here is another with reports of counterfeit filters (link to their profile page, read negatives, mostly on filters):  pursafer

And yet another with of reports of fake ones is (link to their profile page, read negatives, mostly on filters) :  xinbsh_0

One more now (link to their profile page, read negatives, mostly on filters) : YourBetterLife2016

I see another with fake ZeroWater Replacement Filter for Pitchers, 4-Pack: namtso01_2016-4

May be others, click on 'negative reviews' to see what the customers are warning folks about before you order/buy.

Buyers beware. does not look to be any 'original/real' filters under $12 per (for the Culligan FM-15RA)
so that's one way to know. Below are pics to tell the difference.

Good shopping.

End of public service announcement. Good day...

One of the many public service announcements
brought to by the friendly folks at Seewald's.  Don't forget to help an
artist out with a small ($5), or large ($100?) donation: donation   f o r m.
